Flooring installation in St. Michael.

St. Michael is a short drive from our Otsego shop, and it's one of the most single-family-home-heavy cities in the area — about 82% of its housing is detached houses. We install carpet, luxury vinyl plank, hardwood, engineered wood, and laminate throughout St. Michael.

Local context

A city built mostly in one decade.

St. Michael's growth was concentrated: roughly 31% of all housing here went up between 2000 and 2009, the single biggest wave of any city we serve. The median home dates to about 1998.

That concentration has a practical consequence. A large share of St. Michael homes were finished at roughly the same time with roughly the same materials, which means they're reaching the end of their original flooring at roughly the same time. If your neighbours are replacing carpet, there's a straightforward reason why.

St. Michael also keeps a genuine historic core — a small share of homes predate 1940 — where the work is a different discipline entirely: uneven subfloors, narrow stairs, and trim worth protecting rather than replacing.

St. Michael questions

Asked and answered.

Do you work throughout St. Michael and Albertville?

Yes, both — they're neighbouring cities and both are a short drive from our Otsego shop.

Our whole neighbourhood was built around 2005. Does that help with the estimate?

It helps us know what to expect. Homes from that wave tend to share subfloor construction and stair layouts, so we usually have a good sense of the job before we arrive — but we still measure and look for ourselves.

We have one of the older homes near the center of town. Can you work with that?

Yes, and it's work we like. Older St. Michael homes need more prep and more patience — checking level, dealing with existing trim, fitting to stairs that were never quite square. We'll tell you honestly what the floor needs before we start.
