Flooring installation in Elk River.
Elk River sits just across the Mississippi from our Otsego shop, which makes it one of the closest cities we serve. We install carpet, luxury vinyl plank, hardwood, engineered wood, and laminate throughout Elk River, from the older neighborhoods near downtown out to the newer subdivisions in the southern half of the city.
The most varied housing we work in.
Elk River has the widest range of homes of any city we serve. The median build year is around 1997, but that number hides the real story: roughly 44% of the housing has gone up since 2000, while the older neighborhoods near downtown hold split-levels, ranches, and houses dating back to the early 1900s.
That range matters more than it sounds. A 2015 subdivision home and a 1962 split-level are genuinely different jobs — different subfloors, different stair construction, different surprises once the old floor comes up. The split-levels in particular mean short runs of stairs and multiple floor transitions, which is detail work where the finish either looks deliberate or looks improvised.
In the older homes we always want to see what's underneath before quoting anything. Original hardwood turns up more often than people expect, and it changes the recommendation entirely.

How far is Elk River from your shop?
Just across the river from Otsego — it's one of the shortest drives we make, so scheduling estimates in Elk River is usually straightforward.
We have a split-level with stairs between every floor. Is that a problem?
Not at all — it's normal for Elk River. Short stair runs and multiple transitions just need to be planned rather than improvised. We'll walk each level and work out where materials change and how the transitions get finished.
Our house is from the 1960s. Should we worry about the subfloor?
Worth checking, not worth worrying about. Older subfloors can have squeaks, unevenness, or previous repairs hiding under the carpet. We look before we quote so the number reflects the actual work.
